B.S. Northwest A&F University, Animal Science 1985
M.S. Northwest A&F University, Animal Production 1988
Ph.D. Northwest A&F University, Animal Genetics and Breeding 1994
Post Doctoral Research American Institution for Goat Research, Langston University 1997-1999

Research Interests:

Research interests include the molecular regulation of fatty acid biosynthesis metabolism in mammary gland of dairy goats, genetics and breeding of dairy goats, and preservation and utilization of goat genetic resources. A primary focus is identification and function analysis of genes contributing to milk short-chain fatty acid biosynthesis in goat mammary gland. The breeding and selection principles and methods were used to improve the productivity and milk quality of dairy goats.

Teaching:

Undergraduate courses

  • Animal Genetics
  • Quantitative Genetics
  • Biological Statistics
  • Sheep and Goat Production
  • English for Animal Science
  • Introduction of Animal Science
  • Scientific Research Methodology

Graduate courses

  • Advanced English for Animal Science

Awards:

Second-class prize of Shaanxi Sci-Tech Extension Award, 2009.

Second-class prize of Shaanxi Sci-Tech Award, 2004.

Second-class prize of Shaanxi Sci-Tech Extension Award, 1994.

Outreach and Extension:

Extension works have been conducted in the dairy goat production regions in China and particularly in Shaanxi province, the workshops and training courses at various levels were offered to dairy goat producers and technicians. A website (http://dairygoatnet.nwsuaf.edu.cn/)was constructed as the platform for information sharing and technology advice to dairy goat producers and researchers.
